Happy Summer everyone, from the office of Dr. Alan Bauman and his team. We thought it would be fun to share some questions and answers about Dr. Bauman – so here we go!
Q: Where did you attend school?
A: I am a proud graduate of the New York Medical College. I did my surgical residency training at Mt. Sinai Medical Center and Beth Israel Medical Center; both located in New York before specializing exclusively in hair restoration.
Q: Any idea how many hair loss patients you have treated?
A: At last count, just over 17,000!
Q: Are there any ways to treat hair loss that aren’t invasive?
A: Absolutely, our team is an early-adopter of the minimally invasive FUE style of hair transplant which leaves no linear scar, as well as powerful treatments like laser therapy–an effective FDA-cleared light-based modality and PRP Platelet Rich Plasma for hair regrowth.
Q: Do you keep track of how many surgeries you have performed?
A: Yes, I do. I’ve performed over 7,000 hair transplants.
Q: Who else in your office performs hair transplant surgery?
A: No one! Although I employ an excellent support staff, I personally meet with each, prior to their procedure, and perform all of my own surgeries. I do not have any associate doctors on my team. I did recently add the ARTAS robotic hair transplant device – so my new assistant is “always here” and ready to help!
Q: Other than hair transplants on one’s head, do you transplant hair anywhere else?
A: Yes. Some of our patients have experienced eyebrow and eyelash loss, which we also treat in our office using transplants–in addition to facial hair like sideburns, beards and mustaches.
Q: If I live out of state and I’m considering treatment, how do I receive a consultation? Do I have to travel twice?
A: No – for your convenience we arrange for a long distance preliminary phone consultation before you make your decision to come to the office. This can be done online on our website. Just look for the “Start Consultation” link.
Q: Where did you grow up?
A: I was born in New Jersey — home of Rock n’ Roll and big hair (think Bon Jovi), a short hop from NYC.
Q: What is the farthest away that someone has traveled to have a procedure done by you?
A: We’ve had patients from Japan and Guam come to our office in South Florida – if you go any farther, you start coming back!
Q: When you are not working, how do you relax and unwind?
A: For me, “relax and unwind” happens at the beach. The sight and sounds of the ocean is my Moment of Zen.
