Hello, it’s Dr. Bauman.
Barbie is the movie of the summer.
Maybe you’re one of the millions who went to the theater, decked out in pink, to see it.
It’s a fun, funny, well-made flick, which has definitely contributed to its popularity.
But perhaps the biggest reason it’s popular is because it’s based on a beloved toy: the Barbie doll.
You may have had a Barbie doll growing up.
Or, you may have gifted one to a child or grandchild.
And when you think “Barbie doll”, I bet you can picture her long, luxurious locks. That hair is a big part of what makes Barbie so iconic.
So I was surprised — and, frankly, delighted — to discover that Mattel actually makes a Barbie doll without hair. And they do it for a great cause.
“Brave Barbie”is made by Mattel for the National Alopecia Areata Foundation.
And this one-of-a-kind doll gives children experiencing hair loss a way to have a Barbie that looks like them.
My team and I ordered a “Brave Barbie” for Bauman Medical.
I want to have one here at the clinic because, the truth is, female hair loss is far more common than most people realize.
In fact, up to 50 million American women suffer from some kind of hair thinning, hair breakage, hair loss, excessive shedding, or other forms of hair loss.
So what causes hair loss in women?
And more importantly, if you or a woman in your life is struggling with female hair loss, what can you do about it?
I’ve recorded a short video to help answer those questions:

When I meet with female patients, one of the most common frustrations they report is not knowing the root cause of their hair loss.
Hair loss is stressful.
And if you don’t know what’s causing your hair loss, it can make stress or other negative emotions feel even worse.
The good news is, female hair loss can be effectively treated.
I can say this because, unlike most hair clinics, nearly half of our patients here at Bauman Medical are women.
Over the past 25 years, my team and I have helped thousands of women save and restore their hair.
If you’re struggling with hair loss, the first step in regaining control is sitting down for a private 1-on-1 consultation.
During your consultation (available both in-person and online), we’ll discuss your hair loss challenges.
We’ll “get to the root” of your hair loss and establish a diagnosis.
If you’re in the office, we’ll measure your hair in multiple areas across the scalp.
We’ll look at “Before and After” pictures of Bauman Medical patients with hair loss patterns like yours.
We’ll look at all the treatment options available to you (many of which are only available here at Bauman Medical.)
And we’ll create a personalized treatment plan based on your needs and goals.
Remember, female hair loss can be stopped AND reversed.
And the sooner you take action, the sooner we can create a treatment plan that helps give you the results you desire and deserve.
