HairCheck is a diagnostic tool based on the science of “cross-section trichometry.” It provides a quick, painless, and non-invasive way to scientifically measure and track the amount and quality of hair growing on the scalp without the need for hair trimming or tattooing. This tool is crucial for understanding the state of your hair, confirming a diagnosis, and assessing the effectiveness of your treatment regimen over time.

Measurement Process:

HairCheck is a two step process that requires identification and localization of specific areas to be measured with a stereotactic tool, and then uses a specialized hair caliper to measure hair density and quality. Once each 2cm x 2cm square area is identified, marked, and isolated, the small section of hair is inserted into the device, which calculates the cross-sectional area of the hair bundle. This measurement is known as the Hair Mass Index (HMI), providing an objective metric of hair volume and density. The device can capture data from different areas of the scalp, allowing for comprehensive analysis, and the exact same areas can be measured on subsequent visits.

Steps Involved:

• Identification: Specific 2×2 cm areas of the scalp are identified and marked.
• Isolation: The hair from within the selected zone to be measured is isolated.
• Placement: The hair section is placed into the HairCheck caliper.
• Measurement: The device calculates the HMI by measuring the cross-sectional area of the hair bundle.
• Analysis: Data from multiple areas are collected to provide a comprehensive view of hair density and quality across the scalp.

Accurate Diagnosis:

• Detailed Analysis: HairCheck provides a detailed analysis of hair density and quality, offering insights into the current state of your hair, acquiring a baseline measurement at the earliest possible time.
• Diagnosis Confirmation: By comparing the more permanent zones (e.g., occipital or back of the scalp) to the affected areas (e.g., frontal or crown/vertex area), an assessment can be made as to how much hair loss has occurred.
