PRESS RELEASE
DR. ALAN BAUMAN TO APPEAR ON DATELINE’S HAIR RESTORATION SEQUEL Show airing Sunday, July 31, 7 p.m., following NBC NIGHTLY NEWS BOCA RATON, FL – Seeing more hair on your pillow and less on your head these days? Want some answers? Then be sure to tune in Sunday, July 31 at 7 p.m. when Dateline, NBC’s highly ranked television news magazine show, will air its second installment in a two-part series delving into the causes and treatments to help halt and reverse hair loss. The show features internationally recognized hair restoration surgeon Dr. Alan Bauman, founder of the Boca Raton, Florida-based Bauman Medical Group, and profiles five of his patients – dubbed by Dateline as the “Follicle Five.” The Follicle Five began an array of hair restoration treatments a year ago, and this second episode chronicles each man’s success. “As Baby Boomers continue to age, hair loss becomes an increasingly important issue,” said Bauman. “NBC obviously recognizes this importance, since it is airing this second installment during prime time.” The first show in the two-part series aired last November, when the Follicle Five discussed the psychological issues related to male pattern baldness and embarked on their hair restoration journey. Each of the five friends, all Miami residents, was prescribed a particular hair restoration treatment by Bauman. Sunday’s show will chronicle each man’s result. The treatments prescribed were: • Hair transplantation • Minoxidil/Propecia • Viviscal (marine-derived nutritional supplement) • Propecia only • Laser therapy “We explored the emotional anxiety men go through as they lose hair,” said Bauman. “Many lose confidence in the workplace and with their spouses or girlfriends. We also discussed how hair restoration is frequently the first step in a wide range of self-improvement activities such as working out, career changes or public speaking courses. Unlike other portrayals of hair transplantation procedures seen recently on TV, Bauman wanted to make sure that the Dateline producers knew how long it would realistically take to see the changes so that the results could be documented accurately. “During the first episode we educated the Follicle Five – and Dateline’s viewers – on the different procedures and popular hair loss treatments for male pattern baldness. On Sunday a national audience will get to see the results achieved over the last several months and then will be better equipped to make an educated decision regarding their own hair restoration needs.” Bauman has always been an advocate of a multi-disciplinary approach to hair restoration, which combines several of the treatments being featured on Dateline. Even with men receiving hair transplantation, he recommends also using Propecia to halt future hair loss as well as laser therapy, which stimulates growth. “The patient who underwent the full transplantation procedure will have the most significant results*,” said Bauman. “The other patients should see some improvement if they were disciplined with following their regimens.” For more information on the Follicle Five and Bauman Medical Group, please visit baumanmedical.com or call 1-877-BAUMAN-9 or (561) 394-0024.
